MISCELLANEOUS - In Support of A Great Cause

It's been almost 11 months since my last post.  Where have I been? What have I been doing?

I'm still here!  I've been taking photographs.....of so many different things.  I somehow lost track of my blog and my newsletter, but I'm hoping to get things back in order soon!  There are so many things to get caught up on.

And what better way to start that off again than by writing about a great cause that I am supporting.

A good friend of mine has organized two fundraising events in November where he and his band will be performing.  Proceeds from these two events will be donated to Pancreatic Cancer Canada.

Those of you who know me, know that I have several reasons to want to support causes raising awareness and funds to help find a cure for cancer.  I've said it before, and I'm not the first to have said it, but, Cancer Sucks!

At these events, you will find a silent auction, a 50/50 draw, some awesome music (personally, some of my favourites...yes, music from the 80's!!) and I will be there at both events hosting a photo booth style area. You can come and have some photos taken with some fun props for a donation to Pancreatic Cancer Canada.  You'll be able to download high resolution files of your images within a few days following each event.  It's a great way to remember that you were there (hopefully with friends and/or family) and had an amazing time.

I have also donated a few things which I think are going to be used for the silent auction and perhaps door prizes.  Here is a list of what you will be able to find.  If you've been wanting to schedule a photo session with me but maybe just haven't been able to time it right, I think now would be the perfect time to bid on one of these items!!  I know a couple of you who have been wanting to get some headshots done.....*hint* *hint*  :)

Gift Certificate 1:
  • Approximate Value = $125
  • Professional Headshot/Business Portrait Mini-Session

 Gift Certificate 2:

Gift Certificate 3:
  • Approximately Value = $490
  • Custom Portrait Session
  • Includes photo shoot and a 5 image Digital Collection
2 X $40 Gift Certificates
If you're interested in something in particular, I can find out which venue it will be available at.

What kind of music is the band playing??

"The Release" will be playing Classic Rock, Unplugged/Acoustic Rock and Glam Metal.

Click HERE to find out a bit more about the type of music you will here at these events.  And while you're there, give "The Release" a 'like' on their Facebook Page as well.  :)

What if I can't make it to either event, but I want to support the cause??

Well, it's too bad I won't get to see you there, but it's awesome that you want to help support the cause.  There are a few ways you can do that:
  • Go to http://romansempire.ca/ and buy a ticket anyways
  • Go to http://romansempire.ca/ and click on the 'Donate Now' button on the home page below where you can purchase tickets.  :)
  • Have someone who is going to an event bid on some silent auction items for you.  ;)
  • Spread the word and tell your friends so maybe some of them will make it out!!
You can keep up to date with what's going on by following Rise of the Roman Empire's Facebook Page.  Just click that link and 'like' their page.

I hope to see some of you in November!!!! :)

CLIENT SHOOTS - Bethany & Jonah

I have really been neglecting my blog lately.  So to rectify that, I'm sharing some images of a beautiful young couple that I took before they went off to their Prom last week.

Bethany's dress was so beautiful and she looked doubly beautiful in it.  And Jonah looked pretty handsome too!  :)

Here is a slideshow of their images and a few of my favourites.  I've been waiting to use this song for a client for sooooo long!

Wishing Bethany and Jonah the best of luck and good fortune as they continue the journey through their lives post high school.  :)

PHOTO OF THE WEEK #28 - Happy New Year!

My little party animal.  xoxo

This was taken just before 1:30am on January 1st.  Staying up to ring in the New Year is tough work.  :)

PHOTO OF THE WEEK #27 - Beautiful Ice

It's amazing how something so beautiful can also be so destructive.  We had so much ice this past winter that it was too much for some of the trees to bear.  We got off lucky on our property.  We lost a few trees and others were damaged, but nothing fell on our house or vehicles.  At one point, the branches from the trees that line the driveway were so heavy that they were bending inwards and I could barely fit through the gap while walking, never mind driving a car!

PHOTO OF THE WEEK #26 - Doughnuts Anyone?

The week prior to Christmas is always a busy one.  It's the last week of school and there's all the preparations for Christmas to finish up.  We also had a party to go to.  I made mini DOUGHNUTS!

PHOTO OF THE WEEK #25 - Cutting his first tree

We went to Albion Orchards to pick up some apples and ended up also getting our Christmas tree there.  It was Ben's first time doing the sawing.  Hard work!  And it turned out to be our biggest tree ever!!

MY CLIENTS - I Love Faces :)

I photographed the little girl in the first 'Faces' Collage during her first year.  She had THE-MOST- AWESOME faces every session.  The second 'Faces' Collage is from her little sister's recent 9 month session.  She really did a great job showing her big sister how it's done.  :)

I love these girls!  :)

PERSONAL - Family Day Weekend!

We enjoyed a long weekend in Ontario this past weekend.  'Family Day' long weekend.  Our family 'celebrating' actually began on the Friday evening with a special Valentine's dinner that I made.  Well....the dinner was a yummy Garlic Shrimp Pasta that I often make.  The desserts were new though.  Mmmm

Saturday was tobogganing for Ben and Paul at the local Conservation Area with friends.  The hill is much larger than our little hill in the front yard, so much more walking back up it once you go down.

Sunday was spent with friends in Elora.  There was a Father/Son hockey game (the old fashioned, 'Canadian' way) and the Mom's did some window shopping in town (OK....I bought something for $9...but it was on sale!).  Then a yummy dinner.  Was a fun day!

And Monday was more of a stay at home day.  I made a turkey dinner.  Yum!  Lots of work to clean up though.  But now there are lots of leftovers and I'll be making some soup this week!

Here are a few pictures from Sunday.

I hope everyone else had a great time with family and friends this weekend.

PHOTO OF THE WEEK #19 - Halloween!

It was difficult to choose which Halloween photo to use for the Photo of the Week.  I always like to try and get the neighbourhood kids in the studio on Halloween before the trick or treating begins.  They all looked fantastic.  One of Ben's friends came along with him this year.  How could I not use this photo for this week....

Yes, that's an Alien trying to play Minecraft on an iPad.  hehe  So much fun.  :)

PHOTO OF THE WEEK #18 - Pumpkins!

Unfortunately, I only have a bad phone picture of this.  But, it's more about the event and the memories than the actual photo.

We usually go every year to this place near home to pick out our pumpkins.  Ben was not in a very good mood that day to have his picture taken.  But he humoured me....somewhat.  :)
