ON THE BUSINESS SIDE: Photographer....MIA??

So I received an e-mail this afternoon from someone who had gotten their wedding photographs done by a Photographer in the same Province I reside.  I know this Photographer, only via an online forum we both are members of and I've followed his work from time to time on his web site and Twitter.  He's very talented.

The e-mail basically asked if I knew how to get in touch with him (the writer saw that I followed him on Twitter and he only has a handful of followers).  Apparently he photographed their wedding last October and since that time they have not had any contact with him.  He's disconnected his phone numbers and email addresses.  :-O

I checked his web site address and it doesn't exist any longer and I checked the forum that we belong to and he hasn't posted anything there since last May.

Yikes!

I don't like to make assumptions, but it really looks like he's disappeared off of the face of the Earth and this poor couple is not going to have any professional photos of one of the most important events of their life.  :-(  How sad.  And how maddening if he has basically 'skipped town'.  I'm really hoping there is some reasonable and valid explanation, but from the information I have, it doesn't look promising.  Also, I hope nothing bad has happened to the Photographer.  There doesn't seem to be any information.  So strange!

I could not leave a client hanging like that.  There are a lot of situations where a re-shoot can replace lost photographic opportunities, but a wedding isn't really one of them unfortunately.  It's a once in a lifetime special event that is supposed to be captured in real time.

I feel badly for this couple and I really hope somehow they end up getting their photographs or at least the digital files and then they can get someone else to edit/process them.  *crossing fingers*

OK, so I can't just post a blog entry without including any pictures!  So here's a couple of shots of my favourite couple :))

Thanks for reading and looking. :)

PHOTO OF THE WEEK #30: A Kid's Work Is Never Done!

This definitely isn't my best work, but it is definitely my favourite of last week!

I am so glad I don't have to share a bathroom with my 6 year old! His sink is sooo disgusting, full of toothpaste, etc. Unfortunately, his bathroom is also the main one in the house.

I finally convinced him on the weekend that he needed to help clean it since he made all of the mess. Woohoo! Score one for Mommy.

Of course, I had to take the picture very quickly before he noticed I was doing it. ;)

PHOTO OF THE WEEK #29 - Procyon Wildlife Clothing

Last weekend I was at Procyon Wildlife taking some shots of clothing that will be for sale. We'll be using them mostly on the web site. Space was tight, but I think we made out alright. This is one of the photos from that session. Was a fun couple of hours. :)

PHOTO OF THE WEEK #28: Look Out Below!!

We have a small hill in our front yard.  It's just the right size (at least for now while Ben is still small).  Ben took 'Bobby' out for a winter adventure and 'Bobby' even got to ride the sled all by himself.

PHOTO OF THE WEEK #27: "Happy New Year!!!!"

My little guy always wants to stay up all night on New Year's Eve.  This past New Year's Eve he stayed up until about 1:30am and then we made him to go bed because we were tired!

We spent the evening with friends and had a great time as always.

PERSONAL: The Christmas Holidays of 2009

What a busy holiday! It's only January 3rd and I'm already falling behind. haha I think my life is just like that sometimes. I am determined to catch up though!!

I had hoped to write my last post of 2009 actually in 2009 and then start January 1st with my 'Happy New Year' post. But that just did not happen. So this is my holiday post.....just a wee bit late.

This holiday was like most....full of Christmas projects, lots of food, drink, family and friends. The one significant difference this holiday was that one key person was missing: My Uncle Pete.

Christmas Eve has been spent at their house for more years than I can remember. Except for this one. There was definitely an empty spot left unfilled this holiday. With so many family celebrations usually taking place involving both he and and my Aunt, it was much quieter and at times it didn't feel like the holiday season.  Many of my thoughts were with my Aunt over the past couple of weeks.  *HUGGS*

But there is always much to do to prepare for Christmas and that kept my mind somewhat occupied.

My annual 'craft' is my calendars.  Here is a picture of the back page that shows all of the photos I've included in the 2010 calendar.

I never seem to stock up on enough ink as I always print more than I think I will. I'm stubborn and a control freak, which is why I insist on printing my own (at least for now). I did finally add another printer to my list of equipment. It definitely made the job less stressful than last year, so that was a good thing :)

Santa came and went, but, as Ben noticed when he looked at this picture, he forgot to close the fireplace..... ;)

There are way to many pictures I could post of Christmas, so I will stop at the ones above. I don't want to bore you all too much!

The end of December is quite a busy time for my little family as well.  Right after Christmas is Ben's birthday.  He waits (impatiently) for his birthday every year.  He's very sure that all of his friends have more birthdays than he does because he has to wait so long for his to arrive.

This year I made birthday cupcakes. I remember one of the things my Mom used to let me do when I was a kid was lick the bowl after making my favourite chocolate cake. How fun is that?!

The cupcakes turned out alright. The pictures turned out better before the icing was applied though.....

He had a great time at his party with his friends. :)

And so I've come to the end of my very late Christmas holidays post for 2009. I hope you all enjoyed your holidays as well, regardless of what holiday it is you celebrate.

Hopefully I'll get my Happy 2010 post done soon. I can't wait!! :))

Thanks for reading.

WEEKEND COMICS: What The Duck

PHOTO OF THE WEEK #26 - "Are any of these presents for me?"

Well, I was right. It WAS tough to pick a photo of the week from last week. Between Christmas and birthday activities, there were a lot of photos taken.

So I had to consult my local advisors (aka Daddy & Ben) to help me decide. They both picked the same one, so here it is......

Are any of these presents for me?

As soon as the tree goes up, we can't keep the cat away from it. He likes to sit underneath it, rummage through the gifts and drink water from the stand. Yuck! At times, he's lost tuffs of fur because the tree sap has gotten stuck to him. But it wouldn't be the same Christmas without him :)

Thanks for looking!
